Yellowstone will be making a comeback at the end of the year but will Kevin Costner star in the remaining episodes?
When the Paramount+ drama was last seen in 2023, patriarch John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) was at the epicentre of the main explosive storylines.
Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) had called for his dad’s impeachment as the Governor of Montana, with him also thinking of hiring a hitman to kill his sister Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly).
It is to be a two-way violent streak, however, with John and Beth on the same page, regarding the need for Jamie to be taken out with his body thrown into the mass graveyard at the train station.
So the season five midseason finale had set up the second half to be a violent battle between the three Duttons but news away from the cameras has thrown a spanner in the works.

Is Kevin Costner returning to Yellowstone?
Sadly for John Dutton fans, actor Kevin Costner will not be returning for Yellowstone season five, part two.
Following the release of the first half, it came out that the 69-year-old had left the Western drama with series five then announced as Yellowstone’s last.
There had been a plethora of reports on creative differences between Costner and creator Taylor Sheridan, as well as the conflicting schedules with the star’s film project, Horizon: An American Saga.
Fans had still hoped that he would return for the remaining episodes, especially since he previously showed interest in a comeback but unfortunately, he has confirmed this will not be happening.

Addressing his 1.6 million followers on Instagram, Costner stated in a video: “After this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that that’s required and thinking about Yellowstone, that beloved series that I love that I know you love, I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue season 5B or into the future.
"It was something that really changed me. I loved it and I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning. And I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop and I’ll see you at the movies.”
His return began looking even less likely when Yellowstone’s cast and crew went into production in May 2024.

Costner’s update came just hours after it was announced that part two would debut on Sunday, November 10.
Explaining why this was the right time to confirm the disappointing news, Costner told The Hollywood Reporter: “It wasn’t tough. It was a necessary decision to say, ‘Hey, okay I don’t want to really talk about this anymore. It’s time to move on.’
“I gave this thing five seasons. I was really happy to do it. And I don’t need drama. So, let’s just take that drama away, let’s take the guessing [away]. The fans have been way too good to me.
“And my obligation is to go on and continue to make things that mean something to them.”
Yellowstone is available to watch on Paramount+.
