On Wednesday, the latest release of the Prep Hoops Louisiana 2025 rankings dropped. While the players in the top ten did not change, some of their positions did. In this rankings review, we will take a look at the brand new top 10.

1. Christopher Cenac Christopher Cenac 6'9" | PF Isidore Newman | 2025 #54 Nation MO The #1 player in the state is beginning to receive more and more national coverage coverage. Cenac has been great on the NXTPro circuit playing for YGCHoops. He also picked up an MVP trophy at the NBPA Top 100 Camp. Unfortunately, this will be the last time he appears in the Louisiana rankings. Friday, Chris announced his move to Link Academy. Corey Chest was the other #1 prospect in the state who attended Link.

2. Drew Timmons Drew Timmons 6'6" | SF Archbishop Hannan | 2025 State #52 Nation LA The Louisiana Elite wing is as steady as it gets for a top ten player. In the early travel season, Drew was noticed as a top performer at one of the NXTPro tournaments. He is the best inside/outside scorer in the state and one of the best in the region. He will be playing with AB Hannan during the JSE Boys Top 100 June 21-23.

3. Daijon Leatherman Daijon Leatherman 6'9" | PF Carver | 2025 TX The reigning Class 4A most outstanding player is the best back to the basket scorer in Louisiana. He uses his length and strength to his advantage when he plays and is dominant in the paint. Leatherman is also the state’s top rebounder. His game is a little old school but very effective.

4. Christopher Birden Christopher Birden 6'8" | SF Isidore Newman | 2025 State #282 Nation LA Birden is another player who has performed well on the NXTPro circuit for Louisiana Elite . The Newman wing is a three level scorer who excels in transition. Birden should be ready to assume a bigger role in his senior season with the loss of Cenac. I am looking forward to seeing him perform during the July period for Louisiana Elite .

5. Jeremiah Lucas Jeremiah Lucas 6'4" | SG Bonnabel | 2025 State #311 Nation LA The Bonnabel guard has played well on the EYBL circuit for Coach Livingston. Lucas was a Class 5A, second team all-state performer this past season. He helped lead the Bruins to the 2nd round of the playoffs this year. Lucas is an athletic wing who can shoot over defenders or dunk on them. He is as versatile as they come.

6. Garrett Shoemaker Garrett Shoemaker 6'9" | SF Oak Forest Academy | 2025 State LA Another Louisiana Elite wing who has had a good summer. Shoemaker is one of the top players in the private school league he plays in during the school year. He can score from three levels and handle the ball like a smaller guard. Shoemaker can shoot off the dribble or catch and shoot. Both skills make him a tough cover for defenders.

7. Kobe Butler Kobe Butler 6'7" | SF Archbishop Shaw | 2025 State LA The Archbishop Shaw forward is uber-talented. He has had some very good moments on the NXTPro circuit as well with 1 Team 1 Dream. His game continues to evolve offensively and you can see it when he is on the floor. Butler excels at the defensive end. He is a rim protector and knows how to defend in space as well. Butler has a very high ceiling.

8. Xavier Ferguson Xavier Ferguson 6'2" | CG Zachary | 2025 State #322 Nation LA Ferguson is one of the best combo guards in the class. His ability to get to the rim is unmatched at the guard position. The Zachary guard is another Louisiana Elite player who should make a big mark when they play in Phoenix. He is an excellent three and D guard who can score at all levels.

9. Antron Mason II Antron Mason II 6'1" | CG Wossman | 2025 State LA While Mason handles the ball primarily for Wossman, he is very good off the ball as well. The two sport star has always been a gifted offensive player. In his junior season, he became a better defender which helped the Wildcats bring home a state title. Mason was an all-state honorable mention and should have a big senior season.

10. Lantavious Murphy Lantavious Murphy 6'3" | CG Rayville | 2025 State LA As far as an all-around basketball player, Murphy is the best one in the state. He can be a lead guard, top scorer, high level defender, or tenacious rebounder. Murphy plays the game at a high level and plays it very well. He is another two sport star who has a very high basketball IQ. Murphy is a game changer on the floor.

The order of this list will change again with the loss of Cenac to Link Academy. This top ten is very talented and is as good as any group in any state. Look for these players to make their mark during the July live period.
